Looking for a good servo Motorola motor witha brake.

Autocorrect strikes again. Strike Motorola from thread discription.

Need help?
New to the Robot build this year and part of a second year team. I am looking for information about servo motors and/or motors with a brake. This year our team will be competing at the Palmetto Regionals. The problem I am having is when lifting the totes I and worried about the weight of the tote being backed through the motor/ gearbox the powers our lifting mechanism. In our curly plan we will be able to lift four totes at one time.

Here is my questions.

Are servo motors and motors with brakes allowed?

where can I find a list of approved motors that fit this discription?

Re: Looking for a good servo Motorola motor witha brake.

A list of the legal motors this year can be found in the game manual R18 to be specific. Make sure you go through the full manual before anything.
The window motors, door motors, windshield wiper motors and, seat motors all have a worm gear drive attached but the torque they output may not be sufficient.
There is nothing stopping you from adding your own brake to your gearbox or mechanism. Depending on your design you may also want to consider adding counter weights to your mechanism so your motors only have to do a small amount of lifting.
