Cans

So what do other teams think about the can issue.. if there are bots that just try to push the can in auto it will tip because of the serated edge on the bottom. so with most of the cans tipping over will you make 2 mechanisms?

Re: Cans

I feel if an alliance has a team that can untip the cans its fine for them to push it, but if your alliance can't untip them and your alliance can use them its not worth the 8 points.

Re: Cans

Is it really such a stretch to develop a mechanism that can pick up totes, upright bins, and layed-down bins? Seems safer (to me, at least) to develop a mechanism to do everything YOU need it to do rather than rely on your alliance members to make up for the short-comings of your robot. If your strategy relies on using upright bins, but you don't have a mechanism to right them, you might have a bad time.

Im just wondering how the cans will be played it is much easier to knock them down then right them. So how many teams do you think would just pick up knocked over crates??

In our testing, we have found that it is possible (I won't say "easy) to pick up and score a layed-down bin. Knocked over crates (I assume you mean "totes") is a different story since they cannot be scored on their side.

Well in this stance you have to look at scoring. If you get the triple stack its worth 20.

If your alliance can use the bins it will most likely get you more points (if all of the bins are knock over).

I would suggest to make multiple autons and talk to your alliances about.
