All in all it took the team 2 days to build the manipulator. This is our first year working with 80/20 on our robot. The kids love the simplicity but hate the assembly.

One thing to watch out for with 80/20 is the connector weight can add up very quickly. When you can, drill through and tap the internal hole and use the correct connectors to reduce weight.

The whole assemble weights about 15-20lbs. We didn't have time to officially weight it yet.

I've marked each of the brackets that you could remove by drilling a whole through one of the pieces of 80/20. If you need more information about how to do that let me know. I count 9 in total.
Of course, you only want to drill through once you've got the final positions of everything figured out. ![]() |
