Max Voltage for Analog Inputs

How will Voltage equal to and beyond the maximum allowed input for the Analog input affect the Roborio, how will it damage the the ports, are the ports recoverable. How will these scale with increased voltage, 5.5 V, 6V, 8V, 10V. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Max Voltage for Analog Inputs

Is there a specific reason you wish to overpower the input? The general answer, regardless of end result, would be, "No! Bad! Don't do that."

If your sensor has a large output you can, and probably should, scale that input down to the standard levels.

Re: Max Voltage for Analog Inputs

The RoboRIO Specifications document quotes overvoltage protection of ±16 volts on the Analog Inputs.

I found that document by going to http://ni.com/FIRST and following the FIRST Robotics Competition link, then clicking the NI roboRIO link near the top of the page.
