I didn't see 900 up close in its final form, but this was in 1114's pit Saturday morning, so I'm assuming some kind of winching was incorporated.

Re: 1114's HARPOONS

There was an incorporated winch... But no way to remove the harpoons from the cans that I could see, short of brute force. I'm pretty sure it was a purely defensive live-action designed to ensure the other alliance did not get the cans and had to stack perfectly.

The #1 priority in the FRC robot inspection process is safety.

If 1114 deploys their harpoons in eliminations, it's because they met the safety criteria of a very experienced and safety-conscious inspection team leader.

Re: 1114's HARPOONS

I think I question was asked on the q&a before it closed asking about harpoons. Il look for the actual q&a but short story they said it was legal as long as it had a rope or something attached.

While I understand that this video has been circulating around, I don't think it would be respectful to post it without the explicit permission of 1114.

Im not sure. I wasnt there, but if they were doing it in the pits I cant imagine they were super worried about privacy. They certainly didnt ask the guy filming to stop, look away or go away.

Reguardless, Im not going to lie that looks TERRIFYING. I hope that if they dont deploy them in auton that they have something very good to prevent them from firing unintentionally. A harpoon to the ref is not a good way to make friends on the fields

Once you step into a public venue it's fair game.

Re: 1114's HARPOONS

I want to see how these end up being used come elims. if they reel in the cans thats fine, but if they dont. someone might bring across a souvenir with them when they pull the cans from the other side. Which may result in a red card under the right conditions for the harpoon user. Speculation.

Whoa. All their eggs in one basket it appears? I wonder if they'll wait until semifinals in case it doesn't work?

Doubtful, as average still matters. I think they will wait until finals.

I think they might use it for the last semifinal match assuming they have a good average coming into that match.

It will be 1114 vs 1678 for SF-6

We may be much more likely to see it now with 1114's SideSwipe-mounted canburglar all twisted up after that last match.
