Teams in Florida and North Carolina

Posted by Carolyn Duncan at 04/30/2001 8:53 PM EST

Student on team #495, The Pack, from Jamestown High School and VBEP/Raytheon/Saic.

I am trying to decide which college to go to next year, I know that decision should have been made months ago...looooong story, but I was wondering something. I know there is a team near Florida Tech but I don't know anything about it, ie #, name, the basics. I am also considering UNC Wilmington. Is there a team near there or would it be a project for me to start one up?
Thanx,
Carolyn

Carolyn,

The team you're looking for is team 386. In 2000, they were Team Voltage -- I'm not aware if they held that name for this year. One of the Florida teams would prolly know better. I applied to Florida Tech -- but unfortunately I was wait listed while the Rochester Institute of Technology accepted me...so I'll be going there. If you need any more info..I'll see what I can do for you. Good luck in your decision!

Yup, it's still team voltage. I really don't know the level of involvement Florida Tech has on the team, but they are listed on their sponsors, so if anything, you can be the one to up the anty on their involvement....

There is not a FIRST team near UNC Wilmington, so you would have to start one. The nearest team, team 435, is about a hundred miles up I-40 in Raleigh. They work with IBM and the engineering school at NC State.

Later,

Greg

Now that I have the info on those 2 teams I'm considering a college that I eliminated early in the decision process. For those of you reeading who are not high school senoirs yet don't assume anyting about schools. I applied to 3 schools without a first choice hoping 2 of them would deny me. That came back to bite me, hard. All three of them accepted me and I caan't decide.
