Disney-Stronghold

Will Stronghold
William Theodore "Will" Stronghold is the protagonist of Sky High. He is the son of a famous superhero couple, the Commander and Jetstream, but doesn't seem to have inherited any powers until mid-film.
Would it be possible for the Champion (robot) to gain more power half-way through a match.

With the present technology, it wouldn't be impossible. After all, the Cross The Road PD board does support current monitoring...

(And part of me would love it if FIRST were bold enough to try such a thing.)

Considering the field couldn't manage to get hot goal lights to light up for 5 seconds consistently in 2014, I'd be concerned with the field boosting the current available to the robot halfway through the match.

Re: Disney-Stronghold

I've already made a Sky-High reference.

With the right RoboRIO firmware, it would certainly be possible to limit the amount of power (or types of power) that could be activated during different phases of each match. For example, you could be limited to two CAN controllers (specific CAN addresses), one relay (specific port), and one pneumatic solenoid pair (specific ports) for the beginning of the match, and later turn on all the other controllers. That would be enough to get around and do some basic functions, but by comparison, the robot would be super-powered with all the other options.

Re: Disney-Stronghold

Since this seems to be the thread to discuss the Disney connection to Stronghold, let me quote/repeat my post on the Official FIRST Stronghold Teaser thread, since it got lost in everything.

Far warning to all, WDI is just as secretive as the FRC game design committee, but a hell of a lot more elaborate. Having been a Cast Member this past summer, I can tell you that everything there has a very elaborate backstory. During the orientation (On With the Show) for the park I worked at (Hollywood Studios/MGM Studios), they spent 15+ minutes talking about the backstory of the building at the front of the park that serves as Guest Relations, Sid's. Why did they do this? To point out the fact that they care about the story and the details for every singe thing there, whether it's the Guest Relations building, a restaurant (Mama Melrose's), or why there's giant dinosaur footprints near the lake (each of these they spent 15+ minutes talking about).

Why should you care? Because most of the stories they told didn't have much to do with the final product. Similar to FRC clues, you usually look back and realize "Oh, that make sense". So, what I'm saying is that it's pretty unlikely that this teaser has an immediate and direct connection. More than likely, this is just the beginning of an extremely elaborate storyline that we can't even predict where it is going to end.

Oh and just remember to take your time this season and "let the concrete dry". You don't want to end up with a Disco Yeti (sorry WDI, especially Joe Rohde, but I feel like this is a great example of when you should double check everything and take the extra time to make sure it's right).
