Post About WRRF and this sub-forum

About WRRF

Western Region Robotics Forum is a committee formed by several US FIRST robotics teams on the West Coast. Originating in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Forum was formed after the 2000 FIRST Robotics season in the spirit of sharing and helping in the FIRST community. It is the goal of WRRF to provide a way for West-Coast teams, both rookie and veteran, to get help and to share opinions so that the experience can be improved for everyone.

Due to the hardwork by some of the very dedicated FIRST participants from west coast robotics teams, along with the help of San Jose State University, WRRF now includes most robotics team in the Bay Area. Together as a group, WRRF was able to host the local competition, the "Cal Game", as well as various workshops through out the months before kickoff of 2001 and 2002 to help teams prepare for the coming year of competition.

Beside the events and workshops, teams in WRRF have formed a sense of FIRST community, making their experience so much more enjoyable than the never-talk-to-other-teams mantelity of west coast teams in the past years.

About this sub forum in the Chief Delphi Forum

With the growing size of WRRF and its work, more and more discussions are needed in making decisions and planning for events. Getting 200 e-mails a day talking about an up-coming event no longer have its appeal anymore. That is why we ask Chief Delphi to help us take advantage of online forums to improve the process.

Mean while, the WRRF web team is working really hard to update the website, as well as creating our own forum. This Sub forum will work as a temporary place of online discussion while our talented webmaster put their endless hours into www.wrrf.org.

When the WRRF online forum is ready to go, most online discussions will move to there instead, using this forum to show the rest of FIRST community the progress of WRRF, as well as making announcements of events that might benefit teams outside of WRRF. This way, we can take advantage of many features in the Chief Delphi forum that our web masters might not have the time for (members profile, private message system, e-mails, the portal page, etc. ).

Mean while, it would be really nice if this forum only have WRRF related discussions in it. There are many other sub forums in this site for other FIRST related discussions, or chit-chating.

I highly recommend other FIRST-related organizations out there to take advantage of this forum, and ask Brandon to set up a sub forum of your own. I know there is an organization at southern california (SCRRF) who can make use of this... Then there's FIRST-a-holic Anonymous who's trying to start up again, Robot Chicks Union, as well as many other teams who are setting up local competitions and/or workshops.

Reasons to set up a sub forum in here:

-Show other people across the country how things are done in your organization.

-Get more recognition from FIRST teams & FIRST

-More organized discussion compare to endless e-mails and replies

-Continue discussions after monthly/weekly meetings

-Less likely to get flooded by e-mails from within the organization

-Allow people who can't make the meetings participate in discussions

-A good record of discussions for later references

-did I mention less e-mails?
