What's the most hilarious joke or phrase spoken by a game announcer?

With kickoff being a day away, I kind of wanted to start a discussion that might take the mind off of kickoff, even for a short moment.

So what some of the best jokes or funniest phrases or moments from a game announcer? (not restricted to FRC or FIRST) Share a video if you wish.

My favorite that's on video is "The HAT" from Waterloo 2014.

Another favorite is from my own team member Zach, who was MC for a VEX competition we hosted. He had a joke that I did not expect. Can't remember which game, but there was a team that attempted to score but was unable to, and Zach said, "Close, but no cigar. But that's okay, because cigars are bad for you."

Re: What's the most hilarious joke or phrase spoken by a game announcer?

My personal favorite was from my freshman year(2014). I was a member of an all-freshman drive team. During one of our matches at Crossroads, one of the game announcers introduced us as "The all freshman drive team" and the announcer on the field stopped and looked at us and said "Are you serious? Like, for real? All freshmen? huh...."

I found it funny cause he was so shocked he forgot to finish announcing the teams.

The game announcer/MC for Chezy champs were a hilarious combination. I remember hearing things like "Team 254: The Simbots!" or "Team 971: The Robonauts!" There were most definitely more, but those are just a few examples.

I will never forget Angry Eric... He always suggests "interpretive dance" as an option for the award ceremony...

Re: What's the most hilarious joke or phrase spoken by a game announcer?

Our (immature) team members and mentors always got a kick out of Tom Nader's excessive use of the term "deuce" meaning a two-stack. Often, he said phrases like "They have a deuce in their robot" and "They drop a deuce".

In the vain of Tom Nader'isms, when during non-shooting games, he'll exclaim "They shoot, and Scooooorrreee!!!" It's like, sure they did. Does make me smile every time.

Re: What's the most hilarious joke or phrase spoken by a game announcer?

Tom Nader has some fun phrases he likes to say, such as ground pickups being "low hanging fruit" and "Time expires on our heroes today"

At our middle school's FTC team, "2 Liggett 2 Quit"'s competition this year, they tipped over because of our 4-bar scoop rising too fast, and we moved the scoop back and forth to tip the robot back up, and when it tipped back up, Tom Nader said "And 2 Liggett 2 Quit lives up to their name!". I thought it was funny, okay?

The announcers at Chezy Champs called 973 the fighting adamheards a couple of times. They also called our team (The milkenknights) "The Milk shakes" and the "Milk and cookies".

I enjoyed Tom Nader dong the week one FTC events where he generates a completely fictitious account of what the robots are doing as they all sit non-moving for the entirety of the auton period.

Our heros, climbing the mountain etc...

Kinda jacking this thread a bit but for drivers/coaches/operators do you hear the game announcer or really anyone around you outside of your alliance. I literally block everything out and only when I re-watch recordings of our matches do I hear what the announcer actually said about us.

Anything from Sir Charles, particularly a few of his 2010 matches.

Re: What's the most hilarious joke or phrase spoken by a game announcer?

This past year, my team had a rubber duck named Alfred that sat on our robot. Tom Nader would talk to the duck all the time and acted like he was the one doing the scoring, congratulating him on the stacks as they went up.

My favorite one.

I spent all three of my years as a student on the drive team and one year as a mentor coach my first year mentoring after graduation. As a rookie I was human player, and for the next two years I was a driver, and the year after graduation, I was coach. I've played all the positions throughout four seasons and I can tell you rarely did I ever hear what the announcer was saying, except for when the remaining time was announced. This is a skill that can be difficult to acquire as a coach, because you have to filter out everything to communicate with all the alliance members, but also keep your ears peeled for when the announcer says X:XX time left in the match. For those who have a hard time doing that as a coach, I just recommend watching the digital countdown clock on the opposing alliance station.
