Does the Rock Wall issue affect your robot design?

There have been many, many posts about the error with the dimensions of the Rock Wall.... Yes, such a blunder could be completely disasterous for an FRC team. For instance, imagine the issues if, at this point in the season, we were to find out that it's actually 6" tall.... However, an increased width is very different... I look at it and think, "Whatever... So, they had a blunder - it's really not a big deal, so let's move on." However, I can imagine a few robot designs for which such a change would be very damaging.... It leads me to wonder: How many teams really are affected by this?

Jsteel is an unknown quantity at this point
For us, it's probably better to be wider.

Re: Does the Rock Wall issue affect your robot design?

I don't think our wheel spacing will have any issue with this, and it might even be, as others have said, better for it to be wider since such a tall wall could easily high-center some bots.

Re: Does the Rock Wall issue affect your robot design?

Well, so far it looks like everybody is going to be able to deal with it just fine, except for teams 2056, 314 and 254... Does that mean that somebody else will win some regionals this year?

Re: Does the Rock Wall issue affect your robot design?

It's not that the issue affects our design now, but the way it was before pushed us in a particular direction that we wouldn't have necessarily gone if it was wider and thus easier to climb. The compromise had already been made, it may affect other parts of the robot design or the performance of the final robot, and it was for naught.

I am really curious to hear from people who answered "We are screwed" by this 0.75" change to one of the 9 unique defenses in this years' game.

It's a public poll so you can click to see who's "screwed." One of them came from 254, so you tell us

To my knowledge, Holtzman, 2056, usually answers in the "way left field" category too.
