Question can the 2015 dlink be reprogrammed for 2016

i understand that we're using a new router for 2016. but i would like to use the dlink from last year on a backup robot. does anyone know if the dlink can be reprogrammed to work with the 2016 software?

R57 One (1) OpenMesh Wireless Bridge (P/N: OM5P-AN), that has been configured with the appropriate
encryption key for your team number at each event, is the only permitted device for communicating
to and from the ROBOT during the MATCH.
And from the Blue Box right after this rule.

The D-Link DAP1522 radio distributed from 2011-2015 is not legal for
2016 FIRST Robotics Competition Competition.
As long as you use it on a practice robot at your shop, it "should work". But that is just my opinion.

Question Re: can the 2015 dlink be reprogrammed for 2016

thanks for the reply. i was already aware of the requirement for the new radio at the competition. we want to use the dlink on our practice robot (not the one we use in competition) and was wondering if it can be reprogrammed to work with the 2016 software update. right now we have it programmed for last year's competition and it does not work with a roborio that has been updated to 1016 software.
so my question still stands, can the dlink be reprogrammed to work with the 2016 software?

We have been using the 2015 router with a 2016 RoboRio. I believe that we re-flashed the router using the new bridge configuration tool. I'm not sure though, I can get more information on Tuesday. Good luck.

Re: can the 2015 dlink be reprogrammed for 2016

The 2016 FRC Radio Configuration tool has a setting to program the older DLink for use with this year's robot.
Follow the directions in programming radio for home use in screensteps.

Yes. The old Dlink works with the new 2016 environment. We are using just that for our software development platform.

Re: can the 2015 dlink be reprogrammed for 2016

For home/shop use only, can you not just use any router that can provide DHCP to your RoboRio and your driver station laptop?

Re: can the 2015 dlink be reprogrammed for 2016

Yes, you can use any router you want to at home.
It's just a router/AP, nothing special.
You don't even have to change the router IP to a 0. address, it's just usually convenient to do so.
DHCP serving 10.te.am.20 and higher addresses (or similar) is all that's necessary.

I use all my old outdated home AP/router/DSL/whatever to run old robots.

What happened to Team 358's website?

We had bookmarked lots of good info, back during Fall 2016; and, then every time we wanted to refer to some info on your website for the past 6 weeks it was gone....the whole site, in fact.

Thanks,
- Rob

Re: can the 2015 dlink be reprogrammed for 2016

About 2 weeks into build season our hosting service couldn't handle it any longer, so we are switching to a new service.
But with how busy build season is I just haven't had time to redirect the nameservers.
It'll get done soon, after I've had a bit of a rest.
