Team Standard Material
For teams who have a Standard or are in the process of making one, what material are you using? I don't know if FIRST plans on incorporating the Standards into future games, but I think that we would want ours to last a while anyway. Also, is anyone doing anything with lights or similar components?

Re: Team Standard Material
Check out the materials for team standards we are offering at robopromo.com. We have a regulation size CNC cut nylon banner and structure kit in various colors, as well as medieval team numbers and decal options to give your team a head start on this project.

Our plans are to make something a bit more flag-like and rugged because felt is neither. We're considering using sail cloth or rip-stop nylon. If you want something that is less flag-like but still durable, cordura and duck cloth are both nice because they don't come unraveled easily so you can use glue or iron-on interfacing to add any designs. If you're not looking for extremely durable and just want something easy to work with, felt is lovely. You could also try fleece. Some examples can be found here. The corn is felt with Ri3d and AM made of cordura (you can 'cut it out' with a soldering iron if you're careful) and the red and blue Indiana is entirely cordura. As far as lights, my team has talked about adding some but I doubt we will. Something like this might work though. Last edited by PurpleInk : 26-01-2016 at 09:49. |

Re: Team Standard Material
Ours is going to be constructed of vinyl material with custom printing on it obtained from Staples, 1/2" oak wooden dowels for the poles (to conform to the specs) and connectors for the dowels will be printed on our EKOCYCLE 3D printer that we got donated to us last year during the FIRST donation.

Re: Team Standard Material
We are getting ours custom cut and printed by a sign company out of vinyl. They usually don't cut them but they did us a favor since we ordered close to $1,500 in signage this year.
