Re: Shooter worked on first high goal test

At first glance I was afraid that the spam bots are getting ridiculously smart with thread titles.

Anyways, I have one thing to ask: Is that high goal legal?

Re: Shooter worked on first high goal test

Nice, that is a really cool trajectory.

From the spin imparted onto the ball, it looks like it is a flywheel shooter? If so have you considered putting an encoder into the system with a feedback loop. It'll help you consistently make that awesome shot!

It is a flywheel shooter.
Yes, I believe that encoders will be the best option for consistency, we are thinking that all we will have to do to shoot closer or farther is to change the rpm of the flywheel motor.

Re: Shooter worked on first high goal test

Nice prototype.
I noticed that you are hand holding your wires. We did this my first year and I as the mentor risked sparks and shocks. Then our electronics mentor build a switch box. He used 6 gauge wires with an industrial switch.

The wire ends have a battery connector on one end (Anderson) and large alligator clips on the other. We added tape to the clips so there are no stray voltage paths. Suggest you build something similar. It makes life way easier to test.
