Axis M1013 exposure hold?

I haven't used the axis cameras in a while (having opted at my old team for offboard processing), but it seems that the M1013 has some exposure...problems. It simply doesn't seem possible to set the exposure and hold it. This thread details the issue rather well, but was closed for some reason, despite the only solutions being "shine a flashlight at it at bootup" and "get an older camera."

Has anyone solved this issue prior? It seems rather strange that, possibly the most proliferated and useful sensors in FRC continues to have such a simple issue with built in nondeterminism.

Hint: Go to the Axis Camera's web interface and perform your configuration from there. It gives you axis to ALL the settings.
