Drive Station not connecting to roboRIO

Hi, our drive station won't connect to the roboRIO. We have two laptops running windows 7, all of the software is updated for 2016 FRC. Laptop 1 can ping, web interface (internet explorer "roboRIO-4587-FRC.local"), and connect through drive station to roboRIO. Laptop 2 can ping, web interface, but the drive station doesn't connect. The only error message that we're getting is: 44004 error is: FRC: The Driver Station has lost communication with the robot. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Or even better, know the solution?

Re: Drive Station not connecting to roboRIO

Disable all firewalls and anti-virus.
Double check the team number on the Setup tab.
Click on the down arrow next to the team number on the Setup tab to see what's listed there.

Check the ping lights on the Diagnostics tab to see what the Driver Station is able to ping.
I assume the Driver Station Communications light is red?

Are you trying to run both driver stations at once? The robot will only connect to one of them, the first one it sees.

Re: Drive Station not connecting to roboRIO

I have just troubleshot this to. I could ping, but not control the robot. we troubleshot using the following steps;
1. check ping
2. try to drive it by hooking your driver station to the radio with an cat5 cable. if that works, you have validated your network settings. if driving with the cat5 cable does not work it is a network setting.
ours worked when using the cable. turns out our wifi adapter on the driver station was so old, it would do the network settings, but could not support the bandwidth. good luck
