Re: 1706 Shooter Reveal
We were beginning to wonder if anyone else had thought of this... We have been actively working with a linear spring launcher and have found great success. We originally planned to have a spring that could have easily replaced a spring in an ATV, but since dialed it back due to concerns regarding the entire thing blowing up. Best of luck in tuning that monster.

Re: 1706 Shooter Reveal
Like the power! We prototyped something similar for a linear puncher. Any ideas on how you'll get the ball into it intake-wise?

Re: 1706 Shooter Reveal
WOW, and we thought our spring shooter was ridiculous!
We did the math as well and got a number closer to 200lbs @ 5" of compression, so with an extra 400lbs and inch of compression I can safely assume this thing shoots EXPONENTIALLY harder than ours! Good job ![]() |

Re: 1706 Shooter Reveal
We don't have a cool cord system like yours, just rollers on top. Then we won't take the ball into the robot just hold it with the intake. Then we get the intake out of the way or we launch it through the goal.

Re: 1706 Shooter Reveal
I can see it now - THE TOWER FIGHTS BACK.
The boulder flies into the high goal...and ricochets back out. |

Re: 1706 Shooter Reveal
Ok, things to fix!
Most important, our shooter is actually more in the neighborhood of 200lbs of force. I had in my mind that the spring was a 750, when it was really a 375. So, not nearly as much power as in the video or as stated. |

Re: 1706 Shooter Reveal
Based on seeing the video, I have one piece of advice, make sure your autonomous coding and driver/shooter skills are on point. I bring this up because this robot can only ever accidentally shoot a volunteer once before a head ref is going to have the "if it ever happens again your robot will be considered unsafe" conversation

Thank you for your concerns though, as this is a design with many posibilities for malfunctions. |

Re: 1706 Shooter Reveal
Can I borrow that? My school is having a dodge ball tournament tomorrow and my friend has dibs on our shooter.

Re: 1706 Shooter Reveal
We have a similar concept... but yours sounds like war machine when it shoots

Re: 1706 Shooter Reveal
We do, using rollers, it will suck the ball into the front of the shooter where the ball is housed. This rollers will actually move to get out of the way of the shooter whenever we don't need them anymore. So the intake will be attached to the arm that holds our shooter.
