Grayhill Encoders connected to Talon SRX
My team is trying to figure out how to connect our encoders to the SRX Talons on our robot. We are using 61R100-60 Grayhill optical encoders they are mounted onto gear boxes. We have a ten wire ribbon cable that we have used for connecting Versa Planetary Encoders to SRX Talons that has been working. We've been trying to cross reference two wiring diagrams in order to cut the correct wires out of the 10 on the ribbon cable for the Grayhill encoders but it hasn't been working (diagrams below). Has anyone else tried doing this already and have any success? We'd greatly appreciate some pointers and input.
Thanks!! Link to diagram of encoder (the second one):http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datashe...1R100-060.html Link to Talon Srx encoder diagram (on page 19 in document):http://content.vexrobotics.com/vexpr...e-20150201.pdf |

Re: Grayhill Encoders connected to Talon SRX
Cutting into those ribbon cables is not an ideal solution. Your best bet is to use the encoder breakout board which makes things easy with large and well labeled solder pads. http://www.vexrobotics.com/217-4398.html

http://www.andymark.com/product-p/am-3281.htm A bit more expensive, but 100x easier to use. You can just take the same cable that connects to the Grayhill encoder and connect the other end of it directly to the adapter, no soldering required. It also connects directly to the Talons, meaning you don't need the talon ribbon cable at all. Last edited by cbale2000 : 22-02-2016 at 14:47. |
