Dart Actuator setup with LabView

Ok so we are are a second year team and recently purchased a 12" Dart actuator and the add on sensor kit. First off should we use the potentiometer or the sensors? Secondly, how do we set it all up? We can't seem to find any resources online. I know you don't just attach the pot to a pwm and plug it into an analog port and you're good to go. Is there any step by step instructions? We have used team 358's website extensively but it is down or archived. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
