Exclamation CDI 7 Cancelled!

From: Team #47 Joseph Johnson – Delphi / Mike Martus - Pontiac Central
H.S.

Date: September 16th, 2002

It is with regret that we must announce that the 7th Annual Chief Delphi Invitational Robotics Competition is being cancelled for this year. Two major factors have led us to this very difficult decision:

1. Continued pressure on the automotive industry, generally, and the supply community, in particular, has resulted in significant cost cutting efforts at Delphi Corp. Every aspect of Delphi is being asked to do more with less. The Chief Delphi FIRST Robotics Team is no exception. In light of the
current funding uncertainty, we cannot host the CDI this year.

Also,

2. The Chief Delphi Team decided to move to the Innovation First EduRobotics kit many months ago. For reasons largely beyond their control, Innovation First has delayed production of their "Next Generation" (high performance/lower cost) EduRobotics. Because the current EduRobotics system cost more and has reduced functionality, it is not suitable for the CDI. For a host of reasons, at this point, it is not possible for us to return to the past year's CDI kit. This has left us with little choice but to cancel this year's event.

Over the year’s, the Chief Delphi Invitational has provided Inspiration and Innovation to the community of FIRST. Our standard of excellence has
influenced many teams and improved the quality of FIRST.

We hope that in the near future, we may once again, host this event for the
community of FIRST.

Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience.

Joe Johnson, Mike Martus, and the rest of Chief Delphi - Team 47.
