CAW Question

I'll repeat R10 here for convenience.

The total cost of all items on the ROBOT shall not exceed $4000 USD. All costs are to be
determined as explained in Section 4.4 Budget Constraints. Exceptions are as follows:
A. individual COTS items that are less than $5 USD each and
B. KOP items

<bluebox>
Teams should be prepared to disclose to Inspectors the cost of any
non-KOP item and the total cost of the ROBOT.

There is no quantity limit on KOP items in regards to R10. If the item
is a KOP item, it does not require an associated cost on the Cost
Accounting Worksheet (CAW).

Per T11, Teams must be prepared to display a CAW to Inspectors
during Inspection. The CAW may be displayed in either printed or
electronic form.

Individual COMPONENTS or MECHANISMS, not excluded in R10, that
are retrieved from previous ROBOTS and used on 2016 ROBOTS must
have their undepreciated cost included in the 2016 CAW and applied to
the overall cost assessment.</bluebox>

My question is whether or not to count our Talon SRXs and 90C compressor we got from FIRST Choice. The Talon SRXes were given out as part of the Virtual KoP, so does that mean I don't have to give a cost to any of the 6 that we have? Also, the 90C compressor is given in the Rookie KoP, but not in the veteran KoP. We got ours in FIRST Choice, so does that need to be counted? It would be the same reasoning as to why we don't count the RoboRio (since it's given in the Rookie KoP).

Re: CAW Question

FIRST Choice is part of the KoP, as defined in the Manual. Just so you're aware...

I wasn't part of my team's FIRST Choice this year, so I don't know specific values. It seems like from that perspective we could have only received N Talons. Would the extra SRX's be considered part of the CAW?

From the Glossary:
Kit of Parts (KOP) the collection of items listed on any Kickoff Kit Checklists, distributed via FIRST Choice, or obtained via a Product Donation Voucher (PDV), etc.

It says "Any Kickoff Kit Checklists" which means previous years.

Re: CAW Question

To clarify, would an unlimited quantity of Talon SRXs and any core control system item not have a cost of the CAW? No matter the quantity, even if only 2 Talons came in the kit?

It isnt super clear but yes if it has/did come in the KOP then you don't even have to include it in the sheet, even if you bought extras.

Re: CAW Question

For any significant component (motor, motor controller, compressor, etc.), I recommend listing it on the CAW with a KOP notation, and $0 price.

It proactively address the question when the RI is matching what is on the Robot with what is on the CAW.

Re: CAW Question

Yes good point, it will make the RI's tasks easier so do include them, just with cost zero and maybe something like KOP=$0 in the box
