Camera freeze up during matches

Hi folks -

Last year and at a week zero competition our USB camera image freezes at the beginning of the match and never recovers.

At practice we are fine.

I am concerned this will happen again at our regional.

To set up the USB camera you have to do little code. We had already turned the quality setting to 0.1 I think (sorry I don't have the code in front of me).

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks so much for your help in advance.

Re: Camera freeze up during matches

Size is the knob you want to turn.

You can check on the amount of data being sent by the camera to verify that it's below 7mbps.

1. Close other things running on the driver station
2. Open Resource Monitor and verify that you're not using much network bandwidth (Network tab)
3. Start the robot and the driver station
4. Look at network activity in Resource Monitor. Is it above 7mbps? If so, tweak settings to lower resolution or frame rate.

Personally, I wouldn't let my team run at more than about 6.5 mbps.

Re: Camera freeze up during matches

Thanks for the tip.

When we ran the camera feed on the java dashboard - we were at close to 7 mb

When we use the default dashboard - we were less than 1 mb

Very strange.

I guess we will have to see what it does on the practice field when we get to our regional.
