Go to Post I am surprised at the relative conservative capability you described on our 2006 machine. As for the 2007 machine, in anticipation of an aquatic game, we have completed a robot that "walks on water" and are well along with one that can "part the sea". - Bill Beatty [more]

Vision, Kangaroo, and IPs

My team is currently trying to get our vision tracking to work. We are using Java, a Microsoft Lifecam HD-3000 plugged into a kangaroo pc running GRIP, and that is plugged into a Ethernet switch connected to the radio.

We've got the network tables working in the shop, but I'm worried that once we configure our radio at our competition this weekend that we won't be able to get them. Will the network tables address still be Roborio-3314-frc.local? Also since the kangaroo is going to be constantly on, will it automatically reconnect to the rio once the robot is restarted because it is on the same network? I'm not very well versed on how the fields mDNS works.

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Re: Vision, Kangaroo, and IPs

mDNS should work at the event. You may have more reliability with a static IP setup (and pointing your NT client on the Kangaroo directly at the static IP) as described in this document: http://wpilib.screenstepslive.com/s/...g-at-the-event

Re: Vision, Kangaroo, and IPs

We had our Kangaroo connected directly to the "other" port of the radio and had absolutely zero problems with things working at competitions. As long as you are publishing your table to that roborio-3314-frc.local address, things will work just fine.

If you have it all working, you may not need any additional documentation... but I wrote up a pretty detailed document on how we configured and managed the programming of that same setup in another posting: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=144070

The direct document link is: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/at...9&d=1456817499

Good luck!
