Re: Dropshots Fired!

Now that 254 and 118 (see above) has shown theirs, this means there's at least two teams in Newton that has a two boulder auto that crosses a defense that's not the low bar. If/when these two teams play together, it will be ridiculous.

If Champs tower strength is 10, then 10-2-2-1 = 5 strength. Which is absolutely insane.

Down to 5, right? If 254 gets 2 shots in, 118 gets 2 shots in, and robot 3 gets a shot in, then the 10 starting health drops to 5.

Skepticism is healthy when it comes to robot videos! Until someone does this in a qualification or elimination match, it hasn't happened as far as I am concerned. I am confident in the legality and reliability of our class B/D 2-ball on our practice field, but I'm just a guy on a message board.

The ball not being on the line was an oversight on our part. I double checked all the other videos of this and (of course, ugh) we used the only take where the ball was slightly off (you get sloppy after running a few dozen times). Besides, if we were intentionally pulling a fast one on you, we would have filmed the video from 6 inches off the ground.

Re: Dropshots Fired!

Guess what, even if you do end up crossing the line it is a 5pt penalty and the ball is worth 10pts in the goal. The tower strength drop + net 5pts + balls on your side of the field in auton is worth the risk.

I just believe that the 2nd ball wont be there for them in elims as it is even easier to defend than the one through the low bar.

@254 & @118
Great job guys! Looking forward to seeing you on Einstein. (hopefully from the other side of the field and not from the stands).

Until you get predictably yellow carded. Pretty sure 254 is legal though.

I'm not going to claim to know 254's intake geometry, but from the angle of the camera, 2 inches farther and it wouldn't get a grip on that ball.

Of course, I imagine this isn't the final iteration either.
I just find it hard to believe that the Cheesy Poofs would overlook these details. I think it's much more likely that the camera view is misleading. After all, if these oversights were easy enough for armchair roboticists to point out after watching a 10 second YouTube video, surely someone on 254 would have noticed the issue first?

254 knows what they're doing. If you don't believe their auto is legit and think it was sloppy or not accurate, it's your loss. They aren't cheating, and they certainly aren't making videos of illegal autonomous modes to intimidate people.
