Louisiana Disaster and the RSR
Hello everyone. By now, many of you have heard of the devastation that is occurring in and around the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area. Many of our team-mates, mentors, and friends are in the process of, or have had their houses flooded and possessions destroyed in this historic event. This has touched very personally for me because of the number of my kids and fellow teachers who lost everything in the matter of minutes.
First, we covet your support, well wishes, and kind thoughts as we struggle through the emotional and financial implications of this event. Secondly, after the water recedes we will be looking for all the help we can get to recover and rebuild. As I sit at my sister's house, knowing that water almost reached my own house, I am humbled by the community support that I already see. I'm not honestly sure what will happen with the Red Stick Rumble. We are still planning on having it - the school did not get any water in it even though neighborhoods all around it took in many feet of it. But we will try to have an official decision by the twenty-second as to if we will need to cancel the event. In the mean time, Panthrobotics will be there for any who need help with cleanup and together our community will rise again. Thank you, Coach Eiland |

Re: Louisiana Disaster and the RSR
Daniel,
The prayers of Slidell are with all affected by this storm. Fortunately, Slidell was spared this particular storm; flooding to the east, flooding to the west, but rain in the Pearl and Bayou Liberty watersheds was relatively light. If there is anything specific we can get to you, your team members, or others in the area (once the roads open), please let me know. Gus |

Re: Louisiana Disaster and the RSR
Mr. Eiland,
Hopefully this nightmare will end soon. While a couple of my friends houses have disappeared, the majority of their houses, including mine, are alright. Also, thankfully Episcopal itself has not had any flooding or any other disasters except power loss. If you guys need anything, don't hesitate to reach out to us (team 3991). We will do everything we can to help. Stay Safe! |

Re: Louisiana Disaster and the RSR
As someone who faced a round of this last year only a couple weeks before SCRIW (the boil order ended the week before the event), I hope you guys pull it off. Best of luck!

Re: Louisiana Disaster and the RSR
Our hearts go out to y'all from Houston. After suffering through 2 major floods in Houston this year, we understand how devastating this can be. RSR is our favorite off season event and we would hate to see it canceled. But, the needs and safety of our FIRST families comes...first.
Blue skies for you guys! |
