A Leap Backward for FIRST

Here at Team 341 I have one main job. Video. My job is now practically useless because of the change in submission format. I am a second year member and last year I learned so much and with the help of other team members we comprised a Chairman's Award that was very good and we were among the best that were presented at the Philadelphia Regional. Now my abilities on this team are limited and the new Chairmans Award will not be as good as it could be with video. I am hoping to get most members of FIRST robotics to try and get this new rule changed. I think if we get enough people together that as a giant team we could FIRST to change their rule about the submission format. Gracious professionalism between teams could lead us to teamwork that could get the many videographers their jobs back. After all, isn't that what the Chairmans Award is all about?

You can still do video. You just can't submit it for a Chairmans entry.

You could use it to recruit new sponsors ... new team members ... new teams ... something to run in your pits while the judges are walking around, etc.

I know its not the same, but it could be worth it.

Oh, and please look at the other two threads in this forum dealing with this very subject.

So I guess this means no displaying of the chairmans award winner on the big monitors at the Nats. huh?? That's if they even have the video screens this year!
