Post FTC 7314's Velocity Vortex Scoring Calculator

Hello everyone, I hope you are all as enthusiastic about Velocity Vortex as I am! I have created an easy to use calculator that will help you determine your Velocity Vortex score based on the input of multiple variables. This isn't necessarily meant for use in matches just yet, but more for gathering ideas and brainstorming important features your robot should have. I am aware others may have already posted their versions of their calculators but I had this one made up and I figured I should probably post about it anyways.

You can find the calculator here
Using Google Sheets you can make a copy of it and store that in your Google Drive or download it in a number of preset file formats. I designed and scripted this in Google Drive and I have not been able to test it in Excel. If anyone does get a chance to test this in Excel then please let me know how it works.

Hope someone else finds this as useful as I did. Enjoy!

If this post is formatted weirdly for anyone, my apologies! I should have previewed the post before publishing

If anyone is looking for one that works in Excel for offline, it is available here.

Re: FTC 7314's Velocity Vortex Scoring Calculator

Jacob Snarr of FTC 7314 and I had a good talk yesterday.

When I looked at their calculator the first time, to be completely honest, looked quite similar to mine. However, I looked a lot closer I noticed some incredibly unique utilization of formulas which I had never even considered using before.

I don't want this to sound corny but when reflecting on this, it is clear that collaboration is essential for creating a quality product. Every time I create anything I am constantly searching for what other people are doing as some inspiration. After all, that is what the mission of FIRST is: inspiring.

My original post was not in any way intended to offend anyone. You know when a joke sounds funnier in you head than it does out loud? I was just wondering what was new with their calculator, especially considering Jacob mentioned that he had seen others. When we talked, he said something that spoke a lot to me: "We already put in a lot of time to this." When you put in time to something, you want people to see it.

In conclusion, if I offended anyone, that was not my intention and I am deeply sorry. I encourage everyone to check out 7314's awesome calculator which I am proud to say I contributed to. Collaboration is the essence of FIRST and I should not have reacted in such a way that discouraged or even destroyed collaboration. I hope that I will be forgiven and I hope that we can all continue to build on the ideas from one another because after all, that is what FIRST is.
