Attn: All Wisconsin Teams

Greetings all Wisconsin FIRST teams!

As many of the veteran teams know, team 93 (the NEW Apple Corps) hosts the Wisconsin FIRST Lego League state tournament every year. Many people from all over the state attend this competition as spectators, parents and students. These people have one main thing in common – their love and excitement for FIRST and FIRST Lego League!

This year, the competition is scheduled for Sunday, December 8th, 2002 and will be held at Appleton East High School in Appleton, Wisconsin. Since this is a statewide Lego League tournament, the NEW Apple Corps would like to invite all Wisconsin FIRST teams to this event! In years past, teams have come up to demonstrate their robots and show off their FIRST teams. This year, we will have a mini-playing field set up (two goals, 12ft. x 24 ft. carpeted area and 20 balls) for teams to run their 2002 robots. If they wish to do so, each team will also be able to set up a small display about their team. The size of the display areas will vary, depending on how many FIRST teams will be attending.

Rookie teams: Even though you do not have a 2002 robot, we would still like you to come! This is a great chance to meet new teams and maybe pick up a sponsor or two! It is also a good way to find out more about FIRST Lego League.

The NEW Apple Corps will be selling concessions at the event to help fundraise money for the team. The money that is raised will go to helping to pay for their students' trips to regional and National events! Pizza, hot dogs, chips, soda and cookies are all on the menu, so bring your money!!

In order to utilize our display space the best we can, we will need each team to respond whether they WILL or WILL NOT be attending! Please e-mail me or PM me as soon as possible! This e-mail/PM should include your team's name and number, if your team will or will not be attending and if you wish to set up a display. You will receive an e-mail back within two days of you sending it that will include directions to Appleton East High School and more information!

Also, FIRST Lego League in Wisconsin has grown tremendously! The number of Lego League teams in the state has more than doubled since last year. The same amount of growth is expected for next year, as well. Because of this, the Wisconsin FIRST Lego League board is looking for more venues to host regional competitions for 2003. If your team is interested in hosting a Lego League regional, we strongly encourage you to attend the state event – to get a feel for what running the competition is actually like! If you are interested in running a FLL regional next year, e-mail/PM me in regards to this!

Thank you!

Katie Reynolds
