The St. Joseph, Michigan event is also Week 2. My mistake typing the week number earlier. We are one of four Michigan districts held that weekend, along with the one in Mishawaka, Indiana -- which is also named St. Joseph.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

RICHARD! Perhaps some of us will make it briefly on Friday to the FiM event, and perhaps some FiM people will make it briefly to our event Saturday/Sunday.

I know that the FiM St. Joseph event has had some great organization in the past, and some of their leaders have worked to encourage a few of their volunteers to help us out in InF. Loving this bridge-building that we are doing between the two states.

Re: FRC In Indiana 2017

I think that this might be the year for those underdog teams or at least younger teams. The one aspect of the game that almost every FRC team has had experience with is shooting fuel, however, FIRST has tried to make the task as hard as possible, with the least reward. This enables all of the teams to be on a level playing field and it really is just a test of whose ideas come out on top. Obviously having experience in FIRST itself will help for many aspects of the game, but I think this may be the year of the rookies or 3000+ team numbers.

I hope you're right as well! Especially since we have 2 new rookie teams in Indiana this year, and I'd like to see the number of teams grow more because the game is more accessible to new teams. (However, I still want it to be challenging enough that every team has to make continual improvements.)

The GDC has done a pretty good job of keeping the game accessible to all kinds of teams in recent years. (I'd say 2015 was a miss for this, but a team could contribute meaningfully to an alliance in 2014, 2016, and 2017 with a kit chassis, a hardware store run, and a dream.) I think efforts to make FIRST (and FRC) more accessible to newer teams are best spent in other areas.

Re: FRC In Indiana 2017

Firstly, thanks for the correction Logan XD

And also, I would agree. It has become far easier for new teams to join the league in recent years, but why I point is out that even with 3 new teams, we are still making a net loss of one team here in Indiana. And it would be nice to fully enable new teams to compete, esepecialy since Indiana is such a competitve district. Ultimately, I'd just like to see more teams join. Haha

Re: FRC In Indiana 2017

Exactly, especially for the fact that even the KOP chassis will allow for a team to be competitive.

Re: FRC In Indiana 2017

Plus, we are lucky that we even get to be a district. Haha I don't want us to lose so many teams at some point that we lose our privleges as one. Makes things even harder for new teams. (Plus, you lose lots of the benefits of being a rookie team by not being a part of a district.)

If enough IN teams went away they would probably stick the IN teams into the FIM district or, alternatively, we would see the birth of the ILIN district (which would be awesome for a multitude of reasons)

That would DEFINITELY be interesting. Haha though I don't know how I'd feel about that until it happened, if it did. How many teams would you say there are in Illinois...?
