Weird roboRio radio connection problems
Hey all. I've been having some trouble connecting to our roboRio radio lately - it works just fine over the Ethernet, but on one laptop in particular, I'm having a nightmare of a time getting it to connect. Windows Firewall is disabled, I can run it as administrator or a normal user, I've checked that the team number is set in the Driver Station, I'm on the rio's Wi-Fi, and when this is going on, other laptops can connect / disconnect, but not mine. Once, I've managed to reboot the PC and get it to connect on the first try, but if I disconnect, it won't connect again. It works fine tethered via the Ethernet.
Is this something anyone else has experienced? I'm totally at a loss. |

Re: Weird roboRio radio connection problems
So the bad laptop works by direct Ethernet, but just not wirelessly?
So the problem is related to the wireless NIC? |

Re: Weird roboRio radio connection problems
Is this laptop one that is able to connect to the buildings wi-fi? We have a laptop that drops robot packets on the 2.5 Ghz because it's also being hounded by the school wifi. Other laptops do not seem to have that issue. I'm in the process of getting a 5 Ghz adapter to see if it fixes it for that particular laptop.

Re: Weird roboRio radio connection problems
This laptop works fine on the building wifi, my home wifi, etc. It connects to the roboRio via Ethernet just fine. I get an IP address from the Rio (10.TE.AM.28 when I ran ipconfig), but the FRC Driver Station still says "No Robot Communication". I'm totally perplexed.

Re: Weird roboRio radio connection problems
Most of our team's students have personal windows 10 laptops, and they have the same issue. They can connect via usb and ethernet, but not via wifi. However the team itself owns a few windows 10 laptops, that have nothing else installed except labview + driver station. And they can connect fine via wifi. I'm assuming all the students have some sort of firewall setting or antivirus or something that is blocking wireless communication with the roborio, but the team laptops can connect fine because they are just stock windows 10 with only the driver station installed

Re: Weird roboRio radio connection problems
I'm not sure if this issue is related but on our new windows 10 laptop we have this weird problem where if you disconnect then reconnect to a robot you don't get communication unless you disable then re enable the wifi adapter. Anyone else have this problem?

Ugh, I'm on Windows 10 as well.. I'm glad this isn't just me. Windows 10 has been such a butt.

Re: Weird roboRio radio connection problems
It's not just Windows 10, our Windows 8 laptop has this problem as well.
