Unofficial internet pre-inspection
This is something i have done in the past, both here and on /r/FRC on reddit. I'd like to open it up early this year because of the sizing constraints.
I will state loudly and up front - this is not official inspection in any way. period. my comments over the internet about your robot have 0 weight at an event. That being said, if you want someone to review your robot and you don't have a local friendly team that can pop in, then this thread is for you. I have inspected robots for a few years now, and am quite familiar with the rules. Other people on CD have even more experience as well and may want to get in on this. I did this for a few teams last year and found a few issues that would have been a big headache to fix in the pits. I don't want inspectors talking about your robot on the Inspection Stories thread. So here are the guidelines: If you want to help look at other team's robots over the internet, and you have inspected at least one event per year in the past 2/3 years, post a comment here saying so, either with your email address, or giving teams permission to send you a PM here on CD. If you want your robot looked at, send a helper an email with a few pictures of your robot. Please use a subject line like [Internet Preinspection Team ####] The pictures can either be directly attached or hosted somewhere like imgur, which is good and free. If you wan to get super fancy, upload a video to youtube (private or public) and email the link to the video. Do not post robot photos to this thread (it will go nuts quickly) Photos should be well focused and decent resolution, and taken from a few different angles. I will be looking for things like obvious bumper violations, wiring issues, safety issues, etc. Videos should be of a robot on a floor or a table where you can walk all the way around. horizontal orientation, and move slowly so everything can be seen clearly. Please include any specific questions that you have, but keep in mind only so many things can be looked at this way. my email if you want to do this with me is engunneer@gmail.com. if you don't hear back from me in a day or two, send me a PM here to get my attention. It may be interesting to try this over Skype at some point, but i don't think this is the right time yet. |
