Size of the kit of parts
I was just wondering how big (literally) is the kit of parts? Can you get it into a trunk of a car or do you need a truck? Just wondering because we are going to pick ours up and wanted to know what we needed to bring in order to get it home. You never know with packing material. Sometimes the box is 10 times larger than the part they ship you.

The kit of parts usually in the past has come in two(2) plastic containers that are both rather heavy. I don't have them in front of me but a conservative estimate would be 26" wide x 36" Long x 14" High. They should both fit in a car trunk or on the back seat of a car. Aside from that, you should have already received your edubot, and the Autocad Software. In the past there was also an extra box with the pneumatics but overall this was about 12" x 12" by 2 feet which shouldn't be a big deal for a car either. You may want to bring either a hand truck (Dolley) or some other wheeled device to get it out to the car.

Even then you should be able to get everything into any vehicle that can hold four adults and still have room for a friend. Just don't get so absorbed in figuring out how you're going to meet the challenge on the way home that you stop paying attention to your driving. That could set you back quite a bit. ![]() |

No need for hand truck in Kokomo
Team 1022 will be coming to Kokomo for their kit pick-up. We will have people help you load your kit boxes, and they will have hand carts and a dolly, so there will be no need to bring your own.

The kit could be lighter this year; what with First crying poor, there could be less generic metal, etc., and the additional hardware list could be longer to compensate.
Don't consider flying with your kit as baggage. It may not get through inspection. On international flights, the airlines refuse to carry the kit batteries (if provided), sealed gel cell or not. And carrry on any magnetic medium software, just in case. |
