9.6!

9.6 DQ8-

Cameras can be placed on a robot during a match with the permission of FIRST.

Cool! Don't think many will do it though. Why waste the weight!

Many teams have done this in the past. I think the first team to do so was 121 back in 1997, but I could be wrong.

I think a team would make this decision after the robot is done, so they are not worring about the weight

Ya but I dont think may have during a match i mostly think it was in practice. and also who would want to risk a camera in a bot running around fighting other bots!!! scary to lose an expensive camera.

We did this in 2000. They are very small, durable cameras. Imagine the orb internet cams you put on top of your computer except much much smaller. They put the view from the camera on the big screen a couple of times during the competition.

Hey, if we have weight left, I would love to put a cute little digital camera on the robot... how much fun would it be to watch the replay later from that angle!!!

How about using it as a targeting camera. You can get a live feed to a laptop at the drivers station. For people who plan to throw it would be great. Many digital cameras weigh under a pound so many ones would fit.

I havent read all the rules for this year, but the feed was not allowed to be received by the drivers last season.

Yep, that's definitely illegal!

We put a camera on our robot in 2001 (and it was about the only thing that worked! ) Make sure you ask FIRST's permission before you put a camera on your robot!

That'll be really cool to be able to take the point of view of the robot and watch it move around. The only problem is protecting the camera, because a robot might not have the needed room to encase the camera inside, and having a camera sticking out is very dangerous...

Mike537Strategy is an unknown quantity at this point
The main reason anyone on our team could think of using a camera for was to see where the robot was during autonomous mode before the box wal came down.
