My team has decided to go with two wheel drive this year. I am wondering what the deal is with Omni Directional Wheels? My other question is where is a good place to buy Omni Directional wheels?
Thanks, -Will Seymour Team 497 |

As some of you lucky individuals may know, Team 247 'da bears was an omnidirectional robot last year. We had a triangle design with one wheel in each corner of the triangle, each powered by it's own drill motor with a high-low transmission. Wheel rotation was controled by an chair, linking all three wheels, and a van door motor ( i think ) to control the rotation. 45, 60 and 90 degree movment was controlled by pedals at the driver's feet.

Someone correct me if im wrong, but with 2 wheels isn't omni-driectional drive a bit of a challenge.
You dont need omni-wheels with 2 wheel drive either, as with 2 wheels there is no "slip" while turning. http://www.team639.org/pics/2002-wheel.jpg OMNI WHEELS ![]() Greg |
