Candy vs Pizza

Do you think that selling the candy will rake in more money, or pizza? Every school around where I live is doing pizza, but the seniors are doing candy...and so we (robotics) can't. But, candy sells more than 5x the amount of pizza kits. Please give your response.

I definately say go with candy, it brings in much more money. If your ASB (student gov) is good, they should have a set period that the seniors be allowed to sell candy so they don't monopolize candy fundraising so just wait until that ends. If they don't seem to finish soon there are many other fundraisers that work well, see the fundraising threads...in my experience pizzas don't bring in that much.

Well, we are after school club, so the high-authorities ain't gonna give a care about us and our money, so, we're screwed. But I've been convincing everyone since we started fundraising to start the candy....sadly, no luck

Lightbulb we are not 2nd class citizens!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is it written that your club cant sell candy and the seniors rule .............thats pure nonsense. You also need to know the funds for the sports teams is listed as an ACTIVITIES budget and you are entitled to some its not all reserved for the jocks..You need to go to a school board meeting with your robot and do a simple presentation using a handout and a chart listing your expenses ............we did it and they freaked out " 5K buks for registration yikes !!!!!!!" they have no clue unless you tell them.Maybe you should all wear a jock over your pants........... chicks included and say "can we have some money now"?Jocks and seniors do not rule .......we do because we are smarter......never forget it.
If you dont get anywhere go to a town meeting of the comissioners or whatever rules your town and make the same presentation .......the results may shock you .
Candy and the dollar for a rose is a major sellout in our school. We did a raffle for 4 baskets full of stuff we scrounged from the community and made over 1.300 bux we invested 20 bux for the tickets.

They oil the squeaky wheel .............start squeaking or wallow in poverty.

Jocks and such being better is my philosophy, because that is how our school is runned. If you don't join sports, you ain't important. Well, I don't have access to our bots unless someone is there, and 9 times out of 10, I won't get access, but an adult might do it. I'll take your idea in heavy consideration.

Jocks being better !!!!!!!OMG

Dude get over that ..........they are not!!!!!!!!!!we play from the neck up they play from the neck down .Thats the mindset in your school and your club needs to change that .If you can print my last rant out and this one take it to your next club meeting and ask "when can we take some action".
Our state has an assn for jocks for the finals and stuff called the PIAA.We asked for additional funding over our 5K and the pat on the head and the response was "your activity is not involved in the PIAA".We said WTF or sumpin like that and asked "does the PIAA fund the school???????They had no answer ...........so we went to the local paper and a month later we got more bux .........SPEAK UP..........it works .........stop being a total geek.Start asking why the jocks get funded and you dont at the school board meeting and your township meeting.

Tell them our future and technolgy is in what we do ..........not in a jockstrap.Simple statement but true.

I know, it doesn't take much to play football or whatever really, just brawns (sp?). I'm gonna send this thread to all the enginners and whatnot, because I can't print stuff out on the computer I'm on. I was planning on comfronting my principal or assistant principal before about this bias thing. I never heard of the PIAA. "Tell them our future and technolgy is in what we do ..........not in a jockstrap.Simple statement but true." that speaks a lot in just what you said. Thanks for your replies and such. As soon as Monday comes, I'm gonna see whoever high authority represenitive (sp?) I can, and speak to them.

Find out what the assn is in your state and if they give you the same krap ask if the assn funds school ACTIVITIES.

I honestly wouldn't use the approach putting down the sports teams. Sure, they may not all be the brightest but not everyone can be gifted with certain skills (I for sure know I'm pretty deficient in the science realm). You don't want to be an elitist or stoop down to SOME athletes' levels by thinking you're better than them. I didn't do sports in school but I was in ASB (student gov) and that was stereotyped as all the popular stupid folk. What you want is an equal amount of respect from the school, so emphasize the good of your team and what you get out of it. I've done a lot of work with the school adminsitration and I know for sure that getting them angry will not solve a thing, you have to learn to work with them.

Well, I wasn't going (and still ain't) bringing up my feelings on the jocks, but you are right. I'm low in a few fields, so hey. Some (if not a lot) are smart, but their ego gets the best of them (I'm not trying to be bias in any of my posts by the way).
