In the initial setup, alliance robots can be placed in either of the two starting alleys. I can imagine strategies where the opposing robot on the same side of the field as me could make a difference. For example, A and B are on alliance, C and D the other. A wants his robot on the same side as C BUT C wants his robot on the same side as B. Who chooses?

I believe it's all relative to player station placement...
I'm not sure if this is in the rules or not. That would be a good place to start, then I'd search and ask on the FIRST forums before asking here. *jeremy |

Answer found
In the field diagram it shows that the alliance robots could be on either side. I just found an answer posted today in the forum, while not in the rules, the reply states that the side will be assigned. - Note that enough warning needs to be given to allow for choice of autonomous program selection.
