I am having trouble finding the cheng shin tires that we used. Their website (http://www.chengshintires.com )is totally in chinese, which isnt helping any, and many of the links dont work. If anyone has a catalog, or has seen cheng shin tires anywhere, please let me know, as we need to buy some new ones this year. I am going to try and find where we bought these from, but so far ive been unsucessful.

Thats it!!! the first pic you posted is the tire that we used. Did skyway send you a catalog? It would be great to get this info.

I went to their web site, then called them. They then faxed me the FIRST order form. However, I didn't really know what I wanted, so I called them back.

Then, the sales guy (I wish I could remember his name because the service was great) took some digital pictures and emailed them to me.

I then thought that others would want to see the pictures so I thought I would post them.

Drawing of WHL428

An application engineer at Skyway sent me a drawing of their wheel WHL428. This is a 9" x 2" pneumatic tire on a 4" wheel, with a 5/8" ID hub and 3/16" keyway.

For other dimensions open the attached drawing (PDF format since the native .dwg file is 129k).

If you mean the team 589 'bot, they're 3" wide, 10" diameter pneumatic tires mounted on 4" skyway hubs. We purchased them directly from skyway for last years competition. With enough torque, they're great at peeling-up vast quantities of competition carpet and pulling the odd chevy pickup .

We would have pulled that thing forever but the "driver" had the brake somewhat pressed. When the brake was released our robot almost got run over. There was like an inch before it would have hit. It would have done more damage to the truck than to the bot though. Ahh what memories....

We still have a bunch of students' cars and trucks to pull, but here in La Crescenta there's not a whole lot of flat ground.

How durable are the skyway wheels after some wear and tear on the wire mesh? We were thinking of using last year's vertical conveyor belts, but they really get chewed up on the ramp.

we havent driven them on the ramp enough to wear them down, but since we were using last years, they were worn down anyways.

Does anyone have the approximate weight of these tire assemblies? The 4" hubs and pneumatic grippy tires? Thanks,
