Made to stall

Is it a good idea to put a globe motor in a role where it is very likely to stall (at least once a match for around 3-5 seconds)?
If not, is there a motor that could be used for this?

You are going to have to give more info than that, like why are they stalling? You can lessen the likelyhood of the motors stalling through coding. But these motor are like 85 rpm's so I don't know alot of uses for them that would result in stalling.

No matter what the situation is, it is still bad to stall out a motor, because it will heat up really fast, and burn out faster the longer you stall it. Not to mention, stall a motor makes it draw the most current possible for that motor.

But... if you really need to stall out a motor each match for 3~5 seconds each time... the globe motors can take it for that short period of time. Just make sure the mount is easily replaceable, and that you got plenty of spare. Chances are, your globe motors will work fine for a whole regional because the stall time is so short... but over time it might be a good idea to replace it.

Without more information about what you are planning to do, there isn't more advice I can give about this. PM me if you want to talk about this more.

The good news is that the globes stall current is only 21 amps! Since you must use a speed controller to power a globe, you can use a 30 amp breaker and never worry about tripping it.

You still should stall for as little as possible but as far as current draw goes, your not risking much.

I would use a window motor. Don't stall it, but put it in a position where it would stall, then cut power to it. Since it's on a worm gear, it'll completely stop moving when you cut power to it, and you won't be able to do anything about it. When you're done, simply reverse and do it as many times as you want.

I'm planning to use it to lower something to help keep our robot in place. Since the motor won't be strong enough to lift up the robot, I predict that it will stall until turned off.
