Adhesive Grip Tape
My teamates insist I double check this.
Can we use an adhesive form of grip tape on our robot? Some guys think its covered under adhesives. Just let me know. |

The rules state that you can only use tape as an insulator... ie eletrical tape.

Grip tape IS allowed as far as I Know. We used it last year, even on our wheels--we later changed to v-belt, and the judges had NO PROBLEM. As far as I know, the tape rule hasn't changed much if at all.
It's Not TAPE really. more like sand paper with adhesive on the back---it attaches to things (the adhesive side) to give grip to whatever surface it is placed on... hence the name 'Grip Tape' |

I have to agree with Skanker. I think that the intention of the "no tape-except as an insulator" rule was intended for those who planned to hold things together with an material with an adhesive backing. The "grip tape" was used by an untold number of teams in many regionals as well as the nationals and was never questioned by the inspectors of judges. We loved it!
