I don't think very many teams will be able to effectively block the ramp at all.

There are 8 human bins starting on your side. 8+2=10 and 5*5=25. And with a stack of 5 and 6 bins your could have a small lead over your opponent. 8+3=11 5*6=30. And yes, teams will block the ramp effectively, but it leaves them at a strategical disadvantage.

Unhappy The dispointing truth

as anyone here been to any of the scrimages around the country..... i went to the So cal Chatsworth Sectional Last sunday.... stackers... the most disapoint display i have witness in my years in robotics... after team have worked so hard to get it going to have weird devices and stacker... wut happen?

nothing... the best kinda robot on the field is the kinda that moved... if you can go up and down the ramp and even dominate it quickly .. then you got it made.... the sectionals everywhere have soon everyone that stacker just cant function well out on the field there just no time and no place ... the key to victory is the ramp domators .....

I was expecting some action on the field with stacker.... but nothing even tho some teams did not have them operation some others did.. theree just no chance tho.. i like i siad earlier in this theard.... Fast under the bar bots will be favorite... and ram dominators will rule the game.....

seems to be the end of story...

i might sound one sides here and its true that a stacker would win... there just no time and no place on the field for a forkilift to have great advantage over anything

who says you have to have a forklift...? It does seem that everyone is saying that it will be impossible to stack. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens at the regionals.

yep, we have the same problem, 152lbs with 3 days to go. My advice, metal to plastic, lots of holes, and destroy things you dont need. (ya and take out that battery, its 13lbs you dont need lol)

It will matter in qualifiers but not in finals.

I'll talk about Team 25 thinking its the Brystol Bot with the amazing arm that could cherry pick like a GOD, if team 25 was not the Brystol Bot then whatever...

Team 25 could take control of the field, they dominated the center and at least partially blocked half the field.

If you control the ramp you elimate half of the way across the field for a lowrider and you trap a non-lowrider. Ramp-dom also scores 25 points and prevents 50 points from the opponents. That a 75 point difference.

Even if a team can make a bot that can move boxes from one side to another it will still be slow because of the fact they'd have to be moved at least 12 feet. True a stacker may be able to stack 10 high but how are they gonna do that when they only have 8 human player boxes? They'd have to import at least 12 more. Then stack 10 high to get 100 points. I doubt that the ramp-doms ally would allow that to happen.

Even if the ramp-dom loses the fight for the wall it can still push boxes over the ramp back onto his side or at least out of the opponents scoring position, and when the stacker is almost done with his stack of 10(hopefully protecting it with some cage). the ramp-dom rams the stacker knocks it(stack and/or bot) over he can go back to the ramp for a triumpant win.

As to how high a ramp-dom will be, Some pics show bots with about 4 inch paddles others I'm sure will be 2ft+.

Yea that was us. We latched on in the first 10 seconds, instead of waitng until the end. Also, it is the little things that lead to a championship. And we were and are indeed sponsored by Bristol Meyers Squibb.
25 belives in simplicity for their complexity.

wing folding

Heey

That's MY Idea

Anyways, it was rejected in week one because it would be "too hard to build"

I would be made out of plastic and go either 8 or 12 feet long. That means a 6+ high stack

In addition, it would be able to go under the bar

Anyways, 461 did great anyways at Buckeye.

We had the FIRST STACK!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH 461!!!!!!!!

First team to knock over the stacks wins!!! After seeing several scrimmages and a regional, i havent seen ONE stacker that does anyting useful. And ramp doms arent gonna win every match. There is no hole in the game this year, no "3 goals" that guarantee a win. Even if one team can take the ramp every time, thats only 25 points for their alliance. But if someone can beat them to the stacks, that is a lot of bins. And if this team can go under the bar, what is the ramp dom preventing. Unless the ramp doms partner can fend off two bots by itself the ramp dom has to move from the top. This makes the game open for everyone. With the other alliance having a majority of bins and superior movement ability to the ramp dom, they guarantee a win if both get on the hdpe and can fend off the ramp dom in the later portion of the match.

I haven't seen any pure rampdoms in play as of yet. Maybe I missed them.

There are few teams that get to the wall in autonomous mode, let alone get there fast. I don't think anyone can argue that getting to the wall first isn't the most important thing in this years game.

However alot of teams try to shove boxes over the ramp and a ramp-dom would stop that. If a rampdom can get there and plant he'll win barring a miracle.

With the apparent failure of stackers the rampdom strategy definately got a boost. But who knows this weekend could be totally different.
