Hours

How many hours has your team's top hour person put in? On our team i have put in the most hours of the students at so far 158.25 hours!!!!!! The mentors do not log hours, so students do not know where they are in relation to the mentors. There are 3-4 mentors on our team that are ALWAYS there and probably have a little more than I do.

Keeping track of time is pointless. If I spent all my time logging all my time spent, then I wouldn't have any time to spend. Get it. I'm dead serious about this. We do not stop a single minute to take a breath.

dont forget theres work that can be done outside of the shop as well. Theres been quite a few times i've been stuck on a problem while working on the robot only to realize what the solution was after trying to figure it out at home. Personally I wouldn't bother logging hours, especially that exactly, I'd just try and make sure I was there whenever I possibly could be and especially on critical days. And of course being at the shop doesn't necessarily mean the time spent was usefull to the team.

we have to log our hours, b/c that determines who goes to competition and who doesn't... i'm actually in charge of all the hours, but i have no idea who has the most, i haven't added them up in a while...

We used to log hours to see who went to competition or not, but we had a problem a few years ago with people not being honest about how long they were here for. It's possible for us to get a half credit for doing FIRST. In order to do that, we have to log 20 hours a week - which is nothing! If I counted how many hours I've put in since the build started ... yikes. I don't even want to know!!

I don't know how many hours I have (one of our captains forgot to tally my time on the time sheets) but I do know I have the most time on my team. It's at least 70 hours, but probably a lot more than that.

Hours

Well, if I estimate how many hours I've spent designing, building, and strategizing, I've spent over 250 hours so far during the build period. We don't log hours, but I am there the most out of anyone on my team.

Counting drive time? (I have a 45 min drive each way)
Drive + Work + Drive in average day..
0:45 + 5:00 + 0:45 = 6:30

I've worked probably 32 days of the 38.. so 32 x 6:30 = 208:00 hours .. +/- 10

Over the last 7 days, I have worked about 63 hours. Over the 6 week period I worked 270 hours (travel not included, low estimate). If you include time outside the 6 weeks, I have spent 360 hours. I am crazy.

Our team uses logged hours as a cutoff as to who can go on the trip or not. The most this year was 135 hours.. but that's just being in the room. Some people didn't do diddly squat and had 120+ hours logged. Also the fact that this log stopped about a week before shipping and also that most people do stuff at home. We spent only 3-4 hrs/day this year working on weekdays and there was always more that could be done at home.

Driver practice took up about... 25-30 hours.

My team doesn't log hours, but I know that in the past week I've spent around 50 hours working directly on the 'bot. Counting time before that, it's probably right around ~120 at school. Counting time outside of school, but still during the 6 weeks, it's around 150. Add in the time I spent coaching/mentoring my Lego League team and it's around 250. Finally, throw Robo* in there and it jumps to well over 500 hours. Who needs sleep?
