When you take a break from finshing up a writing paper and out of the 7 new e-mails received in the last 4 hours, 5 of them are from CD.

Re: You know you're addicted to FIRST when...

I only made it through the first three pages, so I may be repeating, but some things just need to be said.

-You no longer talk about a BAC (Blood Alchohol Content) but instead your BCC (Blood Caffeine Content)

-You have dumped a non-FIRSTer because they just did not understand

-The robot can be described as sexy

-You have a friend to whom you tried to point out an attractive individual and instead they looked at a gear ratio in that attractive individuals vicinity

-You start calling your head engineer "Dad" on accident

-You have a designated "nap area" in your machine shop

-You add to this list instead of researching for a history paper (not that I know this from VERY RECENT experience ::cough:: )

-You understand everything said on this forum

-You can look at a set of numbers and understand why they are funny

-As soon as someone mentions something which is even remotely related to robotics you are there

-People tried to vote you "Most Robotics Oriented" in your high school yearbook

-You follow my quote that "FIRST is not a hobby, it is a lifestyle!"

-After dumping that non-FIRSTer...you cannot remember ever dating anyone who was not from FIRST

-Online you have added T#(team number) to the end of A/S/L/P (age/sex/location/picture) just in case

ummmmmm wow those all describe my WHOLE TEAM...
-ok first of all NO i dont describe the robot as sexy.. but all the guys do...
-"nap area"? WE WISH!!!
-history paper? what history paper? i dont have a history paper do i? ooooo shoot........
-well where do you think the 1351 came from?

and some more:
-when you turn in the robot schematics you were doing during math class in instead of the hw
-when all of your friends are FIRSTers... whether this is because you made them all join, or because you dont associate with anyone else, we wont say...
-when you wouldnt even consider dating a nonFIRSTer
-when you've officially been the first girl at school because you had to stay past midnight

<edit> -you know ur addicted to FIRST when in order to figure out how many days til xmas, you subtract 13 from however many days are left til kickoff instead of subtracting todays date from 25. </edit>

Thanks for making FIRST such a great experience for me. I'm no longer on 1351, and I'm not currently planning to mentor team 97, but FIRST has meant so much in getting me to where I am now, in life and at MIT, class of 2011.

Actually did accidentaly turn in IR sensor trig in instead of my trig hw last year.
Yeah, I subtract 13 days. Makes more sense, don't it?

Re: You know you're addicted to FIRST when...

-When your car fails, you say, "darn program"

-You start to call people by their CD IDs instead of their names

-You stop studying for finals afer january 8

-Extreme case: You stop doing homework after january 8

-You havent eaten at home in 6 weeks

-You refer to games, and any other computer application as "the software"

- You start finding Achronyms for everything in your life

-Instead of calling your FIRST significant other, you PM them

-You keep random peices of metal, claiming "this was part of the robot of '03

-You draw schematics for fun

- When people sing "hail to the victors" you start thinking (speed controillers)"

I wish they'd do that for me.
Then, of course, I would skip school entirely the week I got all of that work to get it all done and skip school the next seven weeks to work on the robot.

Thanks for making FIRST such a great experience for me. I'm no longer on 1351, and I'm not currently planning to mentor team 97, but FIRST has meant so much in getting me to where I am now, in life and at MIT, class of 2011.

Peciv, I'm going to try and get a shot with my DIGITAL camera so I don't have to spend the money to email the photo to myself. Mostly because I'm a poor college student, plus the quality of the picture on my camera isn't that good.

....when you skip out of work 4 and a half hours early just to talk to your co-mentor about strategy, without high school students.

Re: You know you're addicted to FIRST when...

You know your addicted to FIRST when:

You steal your cousins "Wacky Wigglers" Gear block set and play with it when your bored because it's in the shape of gears.

When you give someone a 10 minute lecture on what a prototype is when they ask, "What's a prototype?"

You jump up in the middle of a lecture in chem yelling, "Eureka" because you finally found an idea that would work.

You have actually READ this far into this thread

You make "You know your addicted to FIRST when..." lists in english when you should be doing an in-class essay.
