Remote Camera for St. Louis and Atlanta

Team 356 is bringing a robot mounted camera to the St. Louis and Atlanta regionals. This camera plugs into an unused 20A fuse on your fuse panel and plans to use the FIRST supplied drill motor mount to attach.

We have tested this camera on our past year robots. It seems to work fine, although there is some interference when the big motors fire. We have velcro-mounted in the past and vibration causes some camera interference.

If we get permission to use this camera, we would be happy to share with any other teams who might want to get a robot's eye view of the competition.

This camera is a color CCD camera which broadcasts on cable channel 59. We're not sure what range will be in the regional building, but we plan to have a tv/vcr in the audience which should be able to pick up and record the match.

Maybe we can sweet talk to A/V people to put it on the big board?

Anyway, if you are interested, please contact me (abwright@ualr.edu).

How much does it weigh? My guess would be that most teams are so close to the weight limit that they couldn't mount this anyway.

Good idea though. I haven't seen one used lately, but back in 95-97 there were a few that they'd put up on the big screen and it was always neat to watch the match from a robot's point of view!

The camera weighs 450 grams.

This is about 1 lbm.

You're probably right about the weight issue.

For the first time, we're pushing the limits.
