The Chapelle Show

I'm sorry. but what I saw last night appaled me. They did a spoof on a reality show, where one white guy moved into an apartment building with about 20 *searches for the politically correct, non-offensive term* black people. I was so offended by the racism in that show. I can understand a few people being amused by it, that's their prerogative, but I was upset. They stabbed his fater for looking at one of the girls the wrong way, they stole his g/f and did assorted things with her, despite what the guy said, and kicked the guy out when he complained about their incredibly loud music at 1:30 AM. I don't think it's an accurate portrayal of anything, but it's been exxagerated to such an extreme that it's disgusting.

Okay, enough complaining for me for today.

I agree. While Dave Chappell's humor is frequently racially oriented, it's done in such a way that most everyone can find it ammusing.

It's done in such a way that SNL has been doing for 27 or so years, and South Park has taken up doing in a much more crude and blunt fasion, and making fun of not one racial or socioeconomoical status, but ALL of them...

And to poorly quote Trey Stone and Matt Parker, "If we haven't offended or made fun of you yet, sorry, we're working on it."

The "Mad Real World" sketch was extremely true if you take into context how he explained it. The way his show works is that the sketches don't work as well by themselves as when he adds the commentary before the sketch.

If you remember his monolouge, he explains that the sketch is about throwing one guy that may be a little weird in with 6 characters of extreme behaviors and then eventually making the one guy out to be the crazy one.

Reality shows do this all the time, so I think his reference was valid.

Just my $.02
