"Life has no innate purpose. It's meaning comes solely from what you do with it." - someone must have said this before me. In fact, I probably heard it long ago, and just forgot where.
"Man is not a means to an end, but an end in himself." - Ayn Rand In case you can't tell, I have a tendency to reject religion in favor of evidence. If there's no indication it's there, then it's existance is generally moot. |

a serious post.... ah!
"Seek not the depths of your knowledge
With a staff or sounding line For self is a sea boundless and measureless and the soul walks all paths." ~Kahlil Gibran I picked this as my sr. quote. 'Why?', this post asks would this mean something to me. well, as time goes on, and hardships come and go, you see your self facing so many new challenges that you would think you would never accomplish, you begain to doubt what you can do. And for one thing the whole time I had been looking for a sr. quote, or trying to make one up, they kept coming out cynical; sarcastic; apathetic; and pessimistic (really? ) But when I came across this I paused and thought ( yes, it happens). I'm always 'preaching' to people how you should never limit your self, or doubt what you can do, there is so much out there, and so much potential in people, you should never limit yourself.Go for things, push the limits in yourself, see how far you can go, and see how exhilarating it will be. 'and the soul walks all paths.' ? well, I'm rather one of a romantic (lit. term) and that line is rather fascinating, that you can try so much, and there are no boundaries, that even your soul wanders upon every possibility. ((OK, i tried to make it serious ... sorry if i failed and many times i said 'you' i also meant it as a reference to myself, but as i said, i mean it to everyone, for Kahlil Gibran's words where to everyone. And this is just the way I see it, you can take it as something else.)) ![]() Last edited by Firewolf : 07-03-2003 at 17:05. |

I like the quote I found in a "new age" store.
I bought the bumper sticker it was on just to put somewhere I can look at it always. It says, Honor the past Live the present Create the future It rings true to me for multiple reasons. I study my family's genealogy and am always finding new things that ancestors have done that are interesting. As for the present, I just try to live one day at a time. But, I do realize that you do have to create your own future and that the past, present future cycle will start all over again someday - or sometime. Time is a true mystery. |
