Hey everyone...
My name's Jordan. I'm from Team 166, Merrimack High School. Our school Activities Director is attempting to get our team more school support and would like information on budgets and costs. If anyone has the following information for your team, can you get back to me (please include your team number/name). Thanks a bunch. What we need: Amount donated by major sponsors Amount donated by minor sponsors Amount funded by school Cost to students Total operating budget for team Also, the number of engineers working with you, and the number of advisors, etc. If your advisors are teachers... do they get a stipend? Thanks again! --Jordan McNerney Captain, Team 166 |

As for the second part of the question, we have two electrical engineers (with mechanical engineering backgrounds), one computer engineer, one machinist, and many many adult mentors. What is a stipend? I guess if you are talking about compensations, well all I have to say is they do it for the love of it. P.S. I hope this helps you. ![]() Last edited by Anne Lam : 16-06-2001 at 03:14. |

Well...
We had a $53,000 budget to work with...$13,000 comes from team fundraisers all year. The rest is us soliciting to organizations & companies....MANY organizations & companies...have you ever seen the back of our t-shirts?
The kids have to raise/pay for ~$600 each for Nationals...we keep records of everything that has been fundraised, so you always know how much you owe. If a student pulls in a corporate sponsorship by themselves (like this year I pulled a $500), that money gets put to them. Our school gives us nothing financially. They used to pay for our postage, but they dont even do that anymore. |

2. misc minor sponsors (about 20 on the list I last saw) donated about $12,000 3. None, as far as I know..but they did donate a building for us to use to make our bot 4. no cost to students..only those who aren't involved throughout the year..wait, $50 deposit..I forgot about that 5. last time I hear it was $26,800..may be wrong (all additional funds was via fundraising) We have 4 engineers from Pratt and I believe 5 from Perry Techonologies who used to work for Pratt or who got rangled in to help out with the team by those who used to work at Pratt. As per the question as to wether our advisors who are teachers get any compensation..one of our teachers (who works at the other school in our county) gets some sort of a supplement b/c robotics is considered a club. My father helps out with things related to the team at my school (paperwork, mainly) but gets nothing b/c he's not labeled as the main sponsor of the club and the club is run through the other school in our county, anyway. I probably should check with one of the adults from our team for the latest numbers, but I believe these are fairly accurate. Be sure to take into account the fact that our transportation costs are very low, considering the one regional we go to as well as Nationals are within three hours of us by car. ~Angela Last edited by A. the rambots didnt have much luck soliciting large corporate sponcorship...one parent who kind of ran the sponcor-seeking part of our team had some theory about how the fiscal year and detiorating economy made companies reluctant to sponcor us...im not sure if i said it right though, i didnt really understand it

Rolls- Royce= $10,000 & engineers
NEC Computers= $5000 & $4000 laptop and any necessary computer equip. Peregrine Systems= $2500 Minor sponsors about $3000 combined Each student had to pay about $450-500 We spent about $35,000 so the rest was raised thorough grants and the students share. |

Our team had a budget somewhere around 40-50 grand. Most of that came from our generous school district and the rest came from students in the from of 250 dollars per person which included both regionals and nationals. I know we also have at least a couple thousand in donated materials also from various companies in our area which helps us out a lot. Hoppefully we find even more sponsors to join us and i bid good luck to you in finding sponsors.

2: I'm not quite sure what the total money amount is from the minor sponsors. I'll have to check up on that. 3: School pays for the entrance fees. Total Value: $9,000. 4: I believe we payed $200 each. Times 25 students gives us a total value of $5,000. 5: Uh, what's a budget? It takes about $30,000 to run 121, and we don't have a budget whatsoever. |
