Want to share a Bus?

We're trying to work our way to Houston, on a budget that is tighter than a big robot on a 130 pound weight limit!

I am on the hook for driving a van on the 18 hour road trip, and am not looking forward to that! Are there any other teams that might have about 30 people or so that would want to share a bus from the midwest? We could meet up anywhere from St.Louis to Kansas City, or in Iowa. For the North Dakota teams, we could even find a place to bunk over night, and then leave early in the morning.

The bus only makes sense if you fill it up, and we have about 20 people that want to go. From Iowa, it would be about $100 per seat, for a full bus. 18 hours of fun and companionship, will share use of the button maker and videos!

Your idea sound interesting if we can make the championships but we won't know until a week before. We are a rookie team and our first competition is the Lone Star Regional.

Our team is from Paola, Kansas which is south of KC by 45 minutes and only 30 minutes to I-35. We are currently taking a bus to the regional but have made no arrangements if we make the championships and would greatly be interested in such a plan.

Our team consist of 11 students and 9 mentors. At least 1 student would be unable to go (prom weekend) and I doubt only half the mentors would. Several parents might go but I imagine it would be easy to limit it under 30 or less (maybe less than 20-25). Our budget is limited but several people would be interested, including me, in going.

Wish us luck at the lone star regional. If we do well enough I might try to contact you afterwards and work out arrangement if not already too late. I cannot gurantee us going to championships so continue to search for arrangements. If we can go, we will always find other arrangements.

I know the time frame in which we will know and need to leave for championships is small so don't worry if you find another team. I can tell you are determined and will find a way to go and have fun. Good Luck.

PS I can not speak completely for my team but my knowledge of my team allows me to post. I don't know where in Iowa you are from but I posted assuming you would travel on I-35 and my teams proximity to it(we could easily join the bus the bus right off of I-35 at Ottawa, KS). I also understand the urgency of your message and apoligize for not being able to give you a sure answer. I like my robot, I like my team, but I don't know if that will get us to Houston
