I was at the ucf regional and i liked team 665's bot. The flames painted on their side panels were awesome. They also had a strong drive train. I remember the match against heat wave when they pushed heatwav'es bot off the ramp and across to the other side. i was surprised seeing them push them like that

At Arizona hands down it had to be team 60. As always thier robot was well painted well machined and that huge sail was awesome!

The Gila Monsters (64) have an incredible bot this year, thier engineer designed it all from inventor and had it all machined. Its pretty, like a lady.

There seems to be a large misunderstanding amongst the FIRST community. If it was polycarb, it wouldn't have broken. You used acrylic which will shatter and crack like you wouldn't believe. Both materials look the same but differ greatly in chemical composition and performance. The original real strong stuff is GE Lexan; the rest that is very similar is referred to as polycarb. Acryilic is definitely not the same.

I agree with you koci. Team 148 does have a neat robot, and red too. Have you seen its video?

http://www.koyote.com/users/vpope/lo...20Star%20A.mov

It does a pretty effecient autonomous mode. I can't wait to play with them in Houston.

624 robot is pretty neat too. Are you Mark's friend?

6 days to LSR. I'll see you there and the robowrangler's red robot.

best looking bot... the bosch team (342?) is always very clean and sleek. personally though, when you compare our's (179) to all others (standard square bots) - hands down - awesome!

thanks for the kudos on the paint job - i'll pass them on to my brother.

Yes, Derik (sp?) Did such a good job, it was fantastic. Not to mention he ended up doing 2 didn't he?

Actually, Lexan DOES crack, if you ram it hard enough.

Last year we used the tinted stuff (Lexan brand, from GM). When we ran into a goal last year at full speed, we broke a nice chunk off the edge of the bot. I think we gave the chunk to one of our mentors who couldn't believe her eyes. I suppose it matters at what angle you hit it and if it's an edge piece, etc.

You guys think thats bad on our (240)'s 2002 robot we actually puched holes, ripped, and broke Lexan by ramming it into those goals. We just considered it battle damage and (me being the driver) convinced them to hang it up in our work room... its a very nice decoration. And as for nice looking robot I dont think that our 2002 robot was too bad it was just 80-20 with Clear Lexan and two big Lexan Rollers for popping balls! As for 2003 well our decal guy got changed and our stickers were really crappy so well its our ugly robot... but it did work.

hey thanks! We ALWAYS get our drivetrain to work! I know, I've been there, fixing it.

179 crazy (but very good) paint job! Can't knock the green paint....hmmmm should check our robots for it if we climbed up on top of them. It was dry, right????

Lexan, thin if you scribe it deep enough, you can break it. (In case you were at UCF out in the pit and wondered what that giant snap was, that was us breaking lexan for our team number)

Yes, Derrick painted two entire sets of panels. One with acrylic paint which bubbles and flakes and the other with enamel which seemed to hold better, but would scratch easily. Note that he had to paint everything backwards so as to be on the inside of the lexan...

I can't wait to see what he may have in store for us in the future...
