Actually, I disagree because he saw Cedric in real life while everything else was in a dream.
As for an inconsistency, note that in Goblet of Fire, Harry's dad comes out of the wand first. However, if this is *backwards order*, then it should be his mom and THEN his dad. Voldemort killed his dad and then moved in to kill Harry and his mom |

I'm just glad she didnt kill Ron's dad or Hagrid, though of the old group of friends only Lupin is left. The thestrals are kinda scary but a really awsome concept. I think there are sort of clues that ron likes Hermione, but i also think there is clues that Luna like's ron so who knows. Anyone agree that Hermione seems to still be into Krum? and who agrees its a bit disturbing since its a good 4 year age dif.
But really- an incredible good book. If they make that into a movie i want to see how they decide to do thestels, harry's detetion with Umbridge and Kreature I'm sorry if my spelling so offended you Last edited by Noelle : 07-07-2003 at 14:58. |

Anyhow, I thought the book was in general good, but I had a few problems with it personally. For one, Harry is becoming this angsty brat throughout the whole thing. I'm not sure of that was JKR's intent, butif not, she could have easily figg'rd out a better way to portray his frustration rather than kicking the crap out of Dumbledore's instruments or storming around his room. Also, through the whole thing, he keeps reminding Ron and Hermione that he was the one who did this and he was the one who did that without anyone's help. It get's pretty fuggin annoying, you know? As for Grawp, a complete waste of time. It did nothing for the story, other than give Rowling an easy out for getting rid of Umbridge. Granted, it was kind of cool to see her traumatized by the whole thing, but I doubt Grawp will develop into anything pertinent in the next book, either. Harry and Cho. Ok. Cho's got a major inferiority complex as far as Harry talking to Hermione instead of her. Granted, it was a bad choice to bring it up in the middle of thier date, but I still think she could have handled it better. As for the mistletoe scene, nice work. I loved the feel of it and (lol) Harry's reaction to it. Harry really needs to learn how to talk to the fairer sex, though. I mean, come on. It's kind of pathetic. I dunno. That's just my opinion on the book. |

It wasn't just a dream. It actually happened. Supposedly his mom had died protecting him, how could he not have seen it happen?
And yeah, I'd have brought that up if the thread were about that book. And yeah, teenagers do get annoying sometimes. If there's one thing you learn from 6 weeks together with the same bunch of teenagers, it's that. |

Yeah I kinda thought the whole point was *not* to spoil the book for people that havent read it... I thought the book was really good, although a bit melodramatic at times.

Personally if I were Harry I would be a lot more angrier then he is in the book. I really doubt anyone here has gone through more bashing than Harry has in that one book except for maybe politicians.

Seriously guys let's not give things away. For those of you complaining about the book give so much closure think about it this way... Harry is almost graduated from Hogwarts so where does the series go after graduation? Real life really isn't all that interesting so the series has to either dies or find something to add.

Rowling has said that she is only going to write seven books in the series so the series will end at the end of harry's seventh year.
i have to agree about the death going by really quickly, it took me a little while to register that he was dead. |

Rowling should write a James Potter book... a kind of Biography if you will, covering Hogwarts events and other major things leading up to his death.
If you think about it, Rowling could do this for a number of characters... Hagrid, Snape, Dumbledore, etc. |

On a note: This thread is old.
On another note: He was a baby when his parents were killed. Isn't it true that your eye sight is not fully developed for a little while? And it's not like you could register death in your brain that young anyway. After all he didn't even know they were murdered until Hargrid told him in the first book. ![]() I want my own Thestral. |
