We were going to use it...we pretty much had the program made.....but then we said, "Scr_w.....IT". We all beleive it was a waste of our time. So we sat down and decided not to use them.
_=e i just had a sugar donut so i was kind hyper. Anyways.......if i insulted you just ignore it but the light sensers are not being used here either!! |

picture this...
1)point the back of our robot at a goal 2)push a button our robot it attached to the goal in oh say 5-10 seconds MAX 1)ball rolls near hand 2)hand auto snaps on ball 3)ball is thrown into basket and yes it works with even very very dirty balls i played with for several seasons no need to be shiny |

Yea, we were going to use the sensors to help grab the goals, but our drivers saw no need for this so we basically let the idea just drop. Yea.

Yep
Team 45 will be using all 4 photoeyes and our $100 electronics box for a "Traction Control System".
We wouldn't want to tear up the carpet, now would we? Andy B. |

Sensors
We will not be using the sensors to locate the goals. We feel that the drivers' eyes should suffice. However, we do use the 4 sensors in another way. We have them placed on certain locations on our conveyor, which is used to pick up and to store balls. The sensors are used to turn the conveyor on and off when balls come in. In this way, we are able to maximize the balls that can fit on the conveyor with little human intevention. We also have an override that can be used to ignore the sensors and control the conveyor manually(in case one sensor were to become misaligned during a match). We can also index in reverse to load from the player's station and quickly transfer the balls to a goal. Its slick system that so far is extremely reliable. Programming it is was .... interesting.
