Mentor help!!!

I need some help, I'm returning to the team I wanted to escape so much last year. This team is on the fast track to failure if something drastic is not done; however, I don't know if its my place to take the steps that need to be taken (esp since I'll only be with them for a max of 3 weeks of the build season). I was wondering is any mentors who are returning to thier teams had any type of advice on what I should do.

Thanks Clark but this situation is slightly different. I've already worked with this team extensively for thwe past 3 years (they were my high school team), I know all of the students, I know how unwilling the admin is, furthermore I know the main problems this team faces. The questions are: how far should I go to help/save this team, what should my role be, and what is the most effective way to help them help themselves

No one on here is going to be able to answer your question. You have to answer it yourself.

The question that I guess I would ask you is, Could you find other more constructive ways to spend your time. Do you think mentoring them is the best way to spend your time?

Its obvious you care about them but, you have to think about yourself too. Is it worth jumping on a sinking ship if its still going to sink?

Evan, knowing you and team 713 for several years, I think it is time for them to stand on their own. I’m sure you will help them every way you can during your winter recess but the school and team 713 present members must help themselves.
Why are you the only one who cares?
Why are you the only taking up such a great burden?
Where is everyone else?

Do what you can and that’s it; you have higher priorities in life.
Sometimes a team must face death to reborn again with new members.
